Each student will be allocated to a House (Cooper, Hillary, Ngata, Rutherford or Sheppard). Within each House there are approximately 13 Hui ako classes. Each student will be with the same Hui ako classmates for the majority of their subjects in Years 9 and 10 and will see their Kaiako (Hui ako teacher) four times a week. Their Kaiako will stay with them for their five years at Mt Roskill Grammar School. The Hui ako class shows which House you are in and which teacher is your Kaiako e.g. 9NKUA is a year 9 class in Ngata House, with Mr Kumar as the teacher. The timetable for the day is Periods 1 & 2, Hui ako or assembly, interval, Periods 3 & 4, lunch, Period 5. The sample timetable below gives you an idea of what a week of lessons can look like, although it will change slightly each term and semester as options change. The three letter codes stand for the subjects e.g. MAT = Maths, ENG = English, SST = Social Studies etc.
